At COPSE WORKS we explore ideas, only creating items that we truly believe in and want to see in the world.
The studio is dedicated to craft and craftsmanship, specializing in combining tools, techniques and materials from different disciplines.
We love designing and making tactile things that people will use, from new furniture and restoration projects to custom wooden surfboards. We also enjoy collaborating, and have a well-equipped space for creating many things.
The Maker
Dominic is a cabinet and furniture maker by training, with a lifelong passion for making. After working as a professional craftsperson in the UK for around two decades, he moved to Japan to share his woodcraft in a new location.
Since coming to Japan, he has built and renovated homes, tiny houses and bespoke furniture works. In his studio/workshop he currently designs and makes pieces, using both new and upcycled materials.
Materials & Approach
Each piece is made by hand in the Copse Works studio. The studio prioritizes sustainable, eco-friendly solutions without compromising on quality. The focus is on creating premium, functional pieces that are built to last.
Philosophy
At Copse Works we create our own products, as well as collaborating with others. We look to solve challenging situations individually - using our years of craft experience to make one of a kind works. We don't make pieces that look different for the sake of being different, simply works that are made to be used.
